I am a community leader with multiple jobs who works nights, weekends, and year-round in town, for the Town. Over the past year and half serving on the Town Council, I have supported initiatives that reinvest in our community from transportation, to affordable housing, to water quality improvements.

For the heart of Jackson.

Why I am running.

Jackson is the “heart” of our community. Its liveability and workability determines the vibrancy of our community's culture and commerce. The quality of our development defines the character of and also the characters who live here. Our transportation system works like arteries that flow through town. And our natural beauty serves as its soul. I will work to preserve the heart of Jackson by listening to all sides, understanding the issues thoroughly, and making decisions that weigh the needs of the community as a whole.

Like a lot of locals say, I first came to Jackson to ski for just one winter, but what motivated me to put down roots was this incredible community. Since moving to Jackson in 2006 I immediately dove into this community by working and volunteering for Teton Youth and Family Services, One22, Hole Food Rescue, The Rotary Club, The Elks Lodge, Womentum, and Coombs Outdoors. I am honored to continue that service on the Town Council.

Schechter, Spery emerge as frontrunners in four-way, nonpartisan Town Council race.

While partisan candidates for the hotly contested Teton County commissioner and coroner races anxiously waited to learn whether they would advance to November’s general election, primary election day was more relaxed for the Jackson Town Council hopefuls. All four were set to move on to the general election well before Tuesday’s primary.

Alyson Spery, who was appointed to the Jackson Town Council in early 2025, is seeking her first full term on the council.

“The council, and staff, and leaders in this community have really invested in getting me caught up to speed in the past year and some months,” Spery said. “It’s time for me to give a return on that investment.”

After being appointed to Town Council last year, Alyson Spery has announced that she will run for a full four-year term.

Spery, a documentary filmmaker, applied to fill the vacancy left open by Arne Jorgensen when he was sworn in as mayor. She was the councilors’ unanimous choice out of five finalists.
