Schechter, Spery emerge as frontrunners in Town Council race. Unchallenged primary candidates move on.

Schechter, Spery emerge as frontrunners in four-way, nonpartisan Town Council race.

While partisan candidates for the hotly contested Teton County commissioner and coroner races anxiously waited to learn whether they would advance to November’s general election, primary election day was more relaxed for the Jackson Town Council hopefuls. All four were set to move on to the general election well before Tuesday’s primary.

Still, the primary was not entirely irrelevant. Voters filled in bubbles for the uncontested, nonpartisan Town Council race on Tuesday, offering an early glimpse at what the Town Council race will look like in November.

Two Town Council seats are up for grabs.

Sitting town councilors Jonathan Schechter and Alyson Spery emerged as clear frontrunners. Schechter racked up 1,209 votes, while Spery got 1,061 votes. Former councilor Jessica Sell Chambers got 573 votes, and newcomer Gabriel Koerber got 387 votes.
